And the miracle of today

Already thinking of Thanksgiving!

Just a few photos I couldn’t share before. Today we visited Batwa “people who are poor in every possible way” with Florentine and Evarist- a Twa who had the opportunity to attain an education and is now working to help his people. I want to help them too. Not sure how to go about fundraising, but am thinking fasting over Thanksgiving. Which most of you already know is my favorite day of the year. Family getting together solely for the purpose of being together and eating food? Sounds like the perfect day not to eat to raise awareness of how hungry these people are. So maybe stop eating- nothing but bread and water until I reach a goal…

But it is Thanksgiving… Homemade stuffing and turkey gravy. Sweet potatoes and pumpkin roll. Broccoli salad and lemon meringue pie. Bacon wrapped anything and cranberry salad. Cheesecake and wine. WHAT AM I THINKING!!!

This decision will need to be slept on a time or two.

  4. Your shining will uplift others indeed! Maybe doesn’t feel like its doing much there but it is and when you return across the ocean your shining will inspire others to help I’m sure! Glad to hear you are learning, growing, dancing and loving life! Hugs dear sister :)

  5. That picture of you two dancing is adorable!

How do you freakin do it? You are just astounding. I was looking through some old photos and notes from high school of us and was just like, “Damn, this chick is in Africa right now doing things! And I’m sitting here killing time til I can eat again.” You are grood. Great and good. Love you! <3

Just a thought: I’ve seen (ok, participated in) some Lenten fundraisers where everyone skips one meal a day/week (personal choice) and puts the cost into a kitty, then turns it in at the end of the designated period. If everyone reading this blog did that for a month, say from Thanksgiving to Christmas, I suspect we could raise a considerable sum to help out with some of the needs you’ve shown us. ??? If so, count me in!

Leave some love
