Eulogy Postponed

And the miracle of today

Robert Redford is as elusive as the elephants!

Sang to the tune of A Partridge in a Pear Tree:

On the 26th day of October, Bernard the guide led us by:

Twelve fish eagles soaring,

Eleven cormorants perching,

A basking Cormoran

Basking Cormoran

Ten dozen pelicans swimming,

Peli-cans

Peli-cans

Nine dead gazelles stinking,

Eight-y wildebeest walking

Wild, wild wildebeest!

Wild, wild wildebeest!

Seven-ty antelope grazing,

Antelope it seems

Antelopers it seems

Six dozen gazelle wandering,

Tommy

Tommy

Five monkeys climbing,

Four water bucks snoozing,

Water buck-ettes

Water buck-ettes

Three giraffe browsing,

The elusive giraffe

The elusive giraffe

Two dik dik hiding,

No, really, they're actually called dik diks.

No, really, they’re actually called dik diks.

And a hippo grazing peacefully!

That’s the summary. Oh, and Out of Africa was filmed where these guys live. Someday, I’ll give you the whole story, but tonight I’m off to bed to rest up for baby elephants in the morning :)

Wildebeeste . . . .giraffe . . . .somehow they make our sightings of a flock of wild turkeys or a pair of coyotes seem pretty lame. I’ve forgotten the story behind Out of Africa but not the scenery. I’m feeling more envious with each posting. Love you bunches!

Very fun! The way the tall lanky giraffes move fascinated us. It had a graceful yet mechanical motion that made it seem almost un-animal. love

  4. I’m not sure if it’s a real memory or not but it feels real: I remember seeing a giraffe behind a fence and thinking it wasn’t as tall as I expected it to be and it was just staring at me. Are giraffes relatively peaceful creatures? This would make sense.

I totally sang this post in my head by the way. Rockin. <3
